SK bioscience launched the world second developed shingles vaccine as a pre-filled syringe type

SK bioscience announced on the 21st that the company has officially launched a new shingles vaccine called ´SKYZoster® Ini.’

The newly introduced pre-filled syringe type SKYZoster can be administered more conveniently than the current intramuscular injection type in which water for injection and freeze-dried vaccine are mixed and then transferred back into the syringe.

The new formulation of the SKYZoster also features two functions on the syringe´s exterior to improve the safety of vaccination.

The pre-filled syringe type is pre-filling a syringe with water for injection which can reduce the process before inoculation by one step compared to the current vial type.

A plastic protector called a ‘backstop’ was attached to the handle of the syringe to hold it easier. In addition, to prevent accidental opening after combining a syringe and an injection needle, a ‘lurelock’ system was used for securing needle placement and preventing needle disengagement.
